Ability to work full-time, 8-11 hour rotating shifts, 4 days/week, including every other Saturday (early starts at 4:15am)
Functions under direct supervision of a licensed nurse
Compliance with organization policies, procedures, training, and state/federal regulations

Responsibilities

Assist in patient education on adequacy measures (e.g., OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease process/access
Welcome patients, inquire about wellbeing, and evaluate vascular access for patency
Perform vascular access cannulation and administer heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weight, and vascular access evaluation
Initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatments per prescribed orders (including QB, QD, UF goal, treatment time, UF modeling)
Evaluate intradialytic problems, intervene as prescribed, and monitor patient response
Ensure safety alarms are enabled (e.g., Narrow Venous Limits 160)
Record accurate vital signs, treatment parameters, and documentation on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and progress notes
Report significant information, changes in patient condition, or unusual findings to registered nurse or supervisor
Perform and document machine safety checks and interventions for unusual patient status
Monitor vascular access during treatment (arterial/venous pressures) and provide interventions
Obtain prescribed laboratory testing and prepare specimens
Achieve hemostasis, apply dressings, and evaluate patient prior to discharge
Support Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), CQI activities, patient satisfaction, and process improvements
Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment and setup/operation of hemodialysis machines
