Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, and completion of a formal Patient Care Technician program is required. They must also demonstrate a minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in dialysis, and be certified as a PCT. Strong observation skills and the ability to follow established protocols are essential, along with proficiency in basic computer skills.
Responsibilities
The Patient Care Technician will welcome patients, inquire about their wellbeing, and evaluate vascular access for patency. They will initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patients’ response to therapy, and provide intervention for intradialytic problems. The PCT will also obtain vital signs, record treatment parameters, and ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled, while documenting all relevant information and reporting any significant changes in patient condition.
