Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Successfully completed a PCT course, fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or equivalent of 1 year direct patient care
BLS certification
Phlebotomy training/education (required for Emergency Department positions)
Demonstrates knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures, and standards
Strong communication skills
Enhances skills through ongoing education and training; maintains regulatory and departmental competencies

Responsibilities

Supports activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, mobility, transport)
Demonstrates standard precautions, including care for patients in isolation and safe patient practices
Performs technical duties as directed by RN/LPN (vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, foley catheter care) and documents appropriately
Performs phlebotomy and EKGs if certified
Identifies and communicates changes in patient status to RN/LPN and responds appropriately
Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding care needs and safety issues
Participates in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals
Participates in performance improvement activities
Assists in orientation of new hires
Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients, and patient's family/significant others
Maintains high standards of professional ethics
