Candidates should possess a current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice, along with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. A minimum of one year of experience in an outpatient setting is required, and prior experience in dialysis or chronic kidney disease is preferred. Strong assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation skills are necessary, as well as the ability to administer medications and document patient care accurately.
The Outpatient Registered Nurse will be responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care to assigned patients, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. They will perform ongoing data collection and analysis of patient information related to hemodialysis treatment, adjust treatment plans as needed, and notify appropriate personnel of any concerns. The nurse will also administer medications, ensure proper laboratory procedures, initiate emergency response measures, delegate tasks to other staff, and provide patient and family education regarding chronic hemodialysis therapy.
