Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, finance, operations or business with a minimum of 5 years manufacturing supervisory or management work experience, or high school diploma or equivalent with 9 years manufacturing supervisory or management work experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and able to work independently and take initiative when necessary
  • Knowledge of lean, TPM, six sigma tools and problem solving methodology
  • Must be able to motivate, influence, and educate people
  • Must have ability to multitask and to prioritize task completion
  • Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervises production supervisors and manufacturing operations which may include Machine Shop, Composite’s Fabrication, Assembly, and/or Material Control
  • Works directly with program managers to ensure that schedules are appropriate to requirements on timing and budget
  • Develops and maintains manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, and production costs
  • Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Provides leadership and direction for all production departments including budgets, staffing, training and development, setting goals and deadlines and generation of related policies and procedures
  • Sets expectations and evaluates performance of all direct reports, including planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting reviews and using positive reinforcement to motivate achievement and disciplinary action within the confines of fairness and company policy; and addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Develops, plans and implements processes and procedures to ensure manufacturing targets and performance goals are met and drives initiatives for continuous improvement by reducing cycle time and product flow time by improving process capabilities, incorporating waste reduction methods, developing and maintaining effective cost containment/reduction strategies, and investigating and analyzing new materials, equipment and processes
  • Works to enhance inventory management strategies throughout the facility to improve customer satisfaction and reduce lead-time, and promotes alignment by integrating inventory control across functional areas
  • Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, and works to create and promote a safe working environment
  • Sets an example for employees by modeling behaviors that help lead to success, such as dependability, integrity, cooperation, commitment to quality and customer service, open communication, flexibility and creativity
  • Adheres to all company rules and codes of conduct and quality procedures
