Position Overview

Symbotic is seeking a Network Installation Engineer to join our System Installation and Integration team. This field-based role involves working primarily at customer sites to install Symbotic’s warehouse automation system. You will contribute to the installation process, provide feedback on designs, troubleshoot installation and integration issues, and perform IT-related testing of the system.

Responsibilities

  • Work with on-site construction and cabling teams to connect devices as cabling is completed.
  • Collaborate with the remote engineering team to configure devices on-site.
  • Document configurations as-builts and complete checklists to ensure all tasks are finished.
  • Execute test plans to verify the correctness of various configurations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting systems when problems arise.
  • Participate in periodic review meetings to provide status updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role or relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with TCP/IP based networks, protocols, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with DHCP and DNS configuration and general system administration.
  • Basic understanding of wireless networking concepts.
  • Comfort working in Linux shell environments.
  • Experience with CLI command-line interfaces on Cisco, HP, or equivalent hardware.
  • Understanding of basic scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Bash).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply effective and disciplined problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with tools such as packet sniffers, network probes, command-line debugging, site survey tools, and spectrum analyzer software.
  • Ability to work effectively both in person and as part of a virtual team, communicating and taking direction remotely.
  • Strong documentation capabilities, including following written manuals, editing/improving them, and writing new ones.
  • Ability to execute and contribute to the development of detailed test plans.
  • Good organizational and technical skills, with the ability to plan, track tasks, deliver within agreed timescales, prioritize, and manage workload effectively.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and peers.
  • Willingness to provide on-call support coverage for customers.
  • Availability to work overtime as required by workload demands.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent requirement to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasional requirement to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Must adhere to Lock Out Tag Out safety protocols.

Work Environment

  • A majority of time will be spent on a construction site, requiring the use of PPE.
  • Expect to climb steep stairs within structures.
  • Will be working near railings at heights above the ground.

Our Environment

  • Up to 75% travel may be required.
  • Employees must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  • Employees are responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally for bi-weekly reimbursement.
