Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in network engineering with at least 2–3 years in a network automation role
  • Strong scripting and programming skills in languages such as Python, YAML, etc
  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef
  • Familiarity with APIs (REST, NETCONF, gNMI) and their use in network automation
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VLANs, ACLs, SNMP, VPN, SDN)
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git
  • Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Aruba, or other enterprise-class networking gear
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
  • Understanding of virtualization and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their networking components
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently or in a team setting
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with network modeling tools or digital twins such as Cisco's CML
  • Experience with Network Orchestration Tools such as Itential, Ansible, etc
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Network certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, DevNet, or similar)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies
  • Experience with web frameworks such as Django or Flask for building network management interfaces and dashboards

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain network automation solutions using modern scripting languages and tools
  • Develop playbooks, templates, and scripts to automate configuration, deployment, and monitoring of network devices and services
  • Collaborate with the network operations and security teams to identify areas for automation and efficiency improvements
  • Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines and network monitoring systems
  • Maintain version control of scripts and configurations using Git or similar tools
  • Troubleshoot network issues and automation failures with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term resolution
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices for network security and reliability
  • Document workflows, processes, and code to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Research and evaluate new automation technologies and tools to improve operational efficiency
