One year certificate from college or technical school; or a minimum of three-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years' experience in purchasing or inventory/production control
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions
Takes initiative to collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain data to maximize ROI
Proficiency in MS Office and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Understanding of manufacturing operations, industrial components, and quality requirements
Responsibilities
Plan and issue purchase orders for materials, goods, and services to be processed by external manufacturing firms or directed by operations management
Identify, select, qualify, and develop suppliers for MRO and indirect items and services as part of vendor management
Conduct RFQs, RFPs, and negotiations to secure the best prices, terms, and contracts for materials and services
Plan and maintain optimal inventory levels, often using tools like Plan for Every Part (PFEP), to ensure availability while minimizing costs
Implement sourcing strategies and cost-saving initiatives to optimize expenses
Research industry trends, risks, and opportunities within assigned commodities
Manage standard purchasing processes, including procure-to-pay workflows, and maintain data integrity in the company's ERP system
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as supplier on-time delivery (OTD), past-due orders, and supplier performance
Assist Shipping and Receiving with preparation of export documents for outside processing orders
Resolve quantity, quality, documentation, and other discrepancies associated with procurement working directly with vendors and suppliers
Obtain material return authorizations from suppliers for defective or excess materials
