Responsibilities

  • Plan and issue purchase orders for materials, goods, and services to be processed by external manufacturing firms or directed by operations management
  • Identify, select, qualify, and develop suppliers for MRO and indirect items and services as part of vendor management
  • Conduct RFQs, RFPs, and negotiations to secure the best prices, terms, and contracts for materials and services
  • Plan and maintain optimal inventory levels, often using tools like Plan for Every Part (PFEP), to ensure availability while minimizing costs
  • Implement sourcing strategies and cost-saving initiatives to optimize expenses
  • Research industry trends, risks, and opportunities within assigned commodities
  • Manage standard purchasing processes, including procure-to-pay workflows, and maintain data integrity in the company's ERP system
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as supplier on-time delivery (OTD), past-due orders, and supplier performance
  • Assist Shipping and Receiving with preparation of export documents for outside processing orders
  • Resolve quantity, quality, documentation, and other discrepancies associated with procurement working directly with vendors and suppliers
  • Obtain material return authorizations from suppliers for defective or excess materials
