Requirements
Candidates should possess good knowledge of Wikimedia communities’ dynamics, policies, cultures, and channels, experience in working in a multilanguage and multicultural environment, and extensive experience and full competence related to users with extended Wikimedia user rights (steward, admins, checkuser or other groups). Wiki editing experience including knowledge of wikitext, internal/external links, tables, images, and translation markups is also required.
Responsibilities
The Movement Communications Specialist will support building connection, trust and understanding with our online communities by monitoring community channels, mapping editor communities, scaling connections to volunteer editors and affiliate groups, and supporting the rollout of features and product updates. They will also help in informing the communities about the Foundation work, celebrate contributions of volunteers, and assist in creating human-centered stories. Additionally, the Specialist will support the Movement Communications team by taking up occasional assignments, documenting, planning, organizing meetings, and taking notes.
