Medical Records Retrieval Specialist / Risk Adjustment Representative 2

Position Overview

The Medical Records Retrieval Specialist / Risk Adjustment Representative 2 travels to provider offices within the Southern VA region (Tidewater) and scans medical records into a secure system. This role ensures accurate and properly supported clinical documentation within the health record, adhering to state and federal regulations as well as internal policies and guidelines while analyzing medical records.
Responsibilities
- Travels up to 75% of the time, including driving to locations close to home and overnight travel for up to a week at a time.
- Uses a laptop computer, portable scanner, and encrypted flash drive to retrieve medical records for upload into a database.
- Schedules appointments and visits to physician offices in a timely and efficient manner to meet all deadlines.
Requirements
- Live and travel in the Southern part of VA - Tidewater area.
- 1+ years of provider office and/or medical office setting experience.
- 1+ years of Medical Record and/or health information experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word and Excel.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- 1+ years demonstrated ability in using computer and Windows PC applications, including strong keyboard and navigation skills and the ability to learn new computer programs.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Proof of personal vehicle liability insurance with at least 100/300/100 limits.
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Report as part of the background check process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system.
- Medical Record retrieval experience.
Work Schedule & Travel
- Hours: Monday-Friday, ranging between 7 am - 5 pm.
- Travel: This position requires 75% travel to provider offices.
Work at Home/Remote Requirements
To ensure effective work for Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates, the self-provided internet service must meet the following criteria:
- Recommended Speed: A download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended to support Humana applications.
- Connection Type: Wireless, Wired Cable, or DSL connection is suggested. Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections may be used only if they provide an optimal connection and are approved by leadership.
- Internet Cost: Humana will not pay for or reimburse for any portion of the cost of self-provided internet service, with the exception of associates who live or work from Home in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota. These associates will receive a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
- Humana will provide necessary telephone equipment for Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates.
- Associates must work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions.
