Requirements

Functions under direct supervision and authority of physician or licensed provider for clinical tasks
Knowledge of patient programs and scheduling processes (e.g., chronic kidney disease education, nutrition, other classes)
Ability to travel to various locations as scheduled and provide coverage for other medical assistants
Compliance with HIPAA, privacy policies, Code of Business Conduct, company policies, laws, and regulations
Physical ability to meet job demands (reasonable accommodations for disabilities)

Responsibilities

Assists in patient care: rooms patients, obtains weight, vital signs, BMI, patient history, collects specimens, assists with procedures, completes forms/requisitions/consents, documents in EMR
Elicits and records medical information (health history, medication changes, chief complaint, etc.) accurately and timely
Preps charts for appointments (retrieves labs, tests, imaging, hospital notes) and requests records for new patients
Administers injections as ordered by provider (if applicable)
Manages pharmacy refills, scheduling orders/referrals, tracking lab results, phone messages, faxes per policies
Stocks equipment and supplies in assigned rooms daily
Identifies and notifies provider of critical changes in patient status
Prepares and closes medical records accurately and timely
Answers patient questions on procedures/medications within scope of practice
Prioritizes/triages patient needs via phone, electronic, walk-in; returns messages timely
Communicates accurately, concisely, timely, and professionally
Maintains inventory of exam/procedure room supplies, organizes patient flow and clinic for safety
Provides outstanding customer service with empathy, compassion, respect, efficiency, professionalism
Acts as role model and provides guidance for other medical assistants
Escalates issues to supervisor, assists with projects, performs other related duties as assigned
