Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional engineering design experience
  • EIT working towards PE license
  • CAD, AutoCAD, REVIT experience (proficiency specified)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Knowledge of standard format specification development
  • Knowledge of assorted vendor equipment selection programs and other software applicable to the design process
  • Active memberships in discipline specific professional organization such as ASHRAE or ASPE
  • Qualified to take the PE Exam (plus)
  • Certifications in LEED, Value Engineering, Energy Management, or similar (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform mid to high level complexity design and project management on Aviation projects as Jr support resource under direction of Sr Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer or management
  • Design to client and regulatory requirements
  • Support mid to large size projects including coordination with client and other consultants, document production, and construction management (shop drawings, site observation, punch lists) under direct leadership
  • Manage project tasks to schedule and budget
  • Keep management advised of all quality, schedule, and budget variances in a timely manner
  • Shop drawing review and disposition
  • Maintaining project files
  • Abiding by the project quality plans
  • Reporting safety, health, and quality issues to management
  • Assist management as directed
  • System calculations (building loads, pump calculations, etc.)
  • Typical design work: Plumbing and Fire Protection design and associated calculations, plumbing systems design, hydronic systems design and flow/pressure calculations and sizing, plumbing systems design and selection, fire protection system design, underground utilities coordination, and specification production
  • Other duties as assigned
