High School Diploma or GED
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team to meet demands
At least four years of industrial mechanical maintenance work or relevant military experience, or completion of an approved four-year apprentice program
Basic computer knowledge
Ability to independently analyze mechanical or equipment problems and implement solutions
Tolerance for exposure to undesirable conditions such as dust, fumes, dirt, close quarters, chemicals, airborne Be, etc
Ability to frequently lift heavy material, climb stairs, and be on feet most of the workday
Good verbal and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills to provide customer service
Export compliance eligibility (U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee/refugee, national of non-prohibited country with letter of assurance, or approved for export license)

Responsibilities

Participate in the continuous improvement process by making suggestions to Supervisors and Leads
Ensure all housekeeping requirements are met
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain machinery and equipment
Work from sketches, manuals, drawings, blueprints, and SOPs when available, and recommend alterations to Lead Mechanic or Area Leader
Assume duties of Lead Mechanic when absent
Recognize operational irregularities on equipment or processes, determine the cause, and take appropriate corrective actions
Actively participate in team meetings and activities, and assume various leadership roles within the team as needed
Share responsibility with Lead Mechanic for providing training to other departmental personnel/apprentices, including safety procedures
Know plant emergency procedures for handling and disposing of solid or liquid waste
Share responsibility with Electrical/Instrument personnel for promptly notifying production personnel of equipment or process malfunctions
Refer unusual problems to Lead Mechanic or Supervisor
Perform required base craft duties and all other duties assigned to maintain the plant
Work on and around moving equipment ensuring LOTO has been performed
Perform other duties as assigned
