Requirements

  • Ability to work full-time for 12 continuous weeks in summer 2026 (May/June start)
  • Capability to execute role of industrial hygienist, health physicist, or safety professional on technical projects
  • Ability to work individually, with supervisor, and with HSE team to achieve project goals
  • Skills in documenting and presenting project progress and accomplishments

Responsibilities

  • Support industrial hygiene, health physics, and/or safety in manufacturing and/or lab operations
  • Provide tactical assurance of compliance with regulations and standards related to industrial hygiene, radiation safety, and workplace safety
  • Execute projects led by senior Industrial Hygienist, Health Physicist, or Safety professional
  • Conduct and/or verify Qualitative Exposure Assessments (QEA) for ergonomics, noise, indoor air quality, PPE selection, dusts, gases, or vapor exposure
  • Conduct quantitative and/or semi-quantitative air and noise monitoring studies per site IH Monitoring Plan
  • Conduct in-field practice versus procedure assessments of key occupational health programs
  • Conduct Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) surveys using velometer or smoke-generating devices
  • Conduct and/or verify Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) or similar assessments
  • Evaluate workplace safety and health programs and participate in internal HSE audits (e.g., confined space, lockout tagout, fall protection, electrical safety)
  • Assist in investigation of injuries and incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Conduct and/or verify dosimetry assessments and area surveys for health physics
  • Perform cross-functional health physics assessments (e.g., shielding calculations, workflow optimization, radioactive waste management, airborne exposure, effluent accountability, PPE selection)
  • Present project highlights, findings, and internship accomplishments to engineering and manufacturing professionals
