The Engineering Manager for Consumer Comms Engineering will lead a team responsible for building and maintaining critical systems that power our customer communications. This role involves overseeing the development and optimization of data pipelines to Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), ensuring system stability and scalability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on the modernization of our communications platform. The manager will be instrumental in guiding the team through technical challenges, driving process improvements, and contributing to strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing customer engagement and personalized communications. This engineering leader position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for delivering impactful customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and grow the Consumer comms team to help improve their designs, processes, code quality, and testing.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, Analytics, Design, Operations, and other engineering teams to develop a technical roadmap that meets customer & business needs.
  • Own availability, reliability, and performance of your team’s systems.
  • Coach, develop, retain, and provide thoughtful feedback to team members.
  • Foster a team culture around innovation, accountability, empathy, and execution.
  • Collaborate & align with other engineering leaders across Affirm.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, including 2+ years of Engineering Management/Leadership.
  • Proven ability to scale and foster a high-performing engineering team.
  • Prior experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining consumer scale products.
  • Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience building data pipelines or marketing systems is a plus.
  • Experience and desire to build a best-in-class communication ecosystem that sets the standard for excellence in the fintech industry.
  • This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Pay Grade: P
  • Equity Grade: 13
  • Base Pay Range (USA - CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $225,000 - $275,000 per year
  • Base Pay Range (All other U.S. states): $200,000 - $250,000 per year
  • Total Compensation Package: May include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending.
