Responsibilities
Manage daily activities of the Government Regulatory Affairs department at the state, region, or division level
Assist with local regulatory, franchising, and public policy matters for assigned geographic area
Implement legislative strategies, monitor legislation, and coordinate state association management
Manage a team including exempt and non-exempt employees and provide subject matter guidance
Develop processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies
Assist in development and meeting of departmental budget
Manage franchise renewal and transfer efforts for assigned franchises consistent with market strategies and policies
Prepare franchise renewal applications and supporting data for renewal negotiations and assist in preparation of renewal strategy
Participate in franchise renewal negotiations with municipalities and/or their consultants
Support the government relations and public policy strategy as developed for the market
Identify important municipal issues of significance to the company
Draft, analyze, and/or present legislation, amendments, and testimony as necessary
Oversee franchise-required construction installation of complimentary cable services to public buildings, including negotiation of additional terms with Local Franchise Authorities (LFA)
Review, interpret, and communicate meanings of the terms and conditions of franchises, franchise-related agreements, and other contracts to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards
Manage service complaints associated with complimentary services
Oversee additional duties related to community affairs
