Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience, with over 8 years of experience in software development teams. Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, or Java, and familiarity with multiple language ecosystems are required. A solid understanding of operating systems, networking, distributed systems, databases, and storage architectures is essential, along with deep knowledge of how code executes on underlying hardware, including operating systems, algorithms, and data structures. Experience in handling production incidents, including root cause analysis and mitigation, strong communication skills, and proven experience in automating manual processes are necessary. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and familiarity with container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes are preferred.
The SRE Engineering Manager will lead their team in setting priorities and ensuring alignment with organizational goals, while also being deeply technical and contributing through coding, code reviews, and mentoring engineers. Responsibilities include developing tools and software to automate operational processes, improve system reliability, and reduce manual intervention. They will lead the implementation and improvement of monitoring and observability frameworks, participate in an on-call rotation for incident diagnosis and mitigation, and work alongside developers to ensure service quality, scalability, and reliability. The role involves practicing shared ownership of services, managing SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs, conducting deep-dive analyses of incidents, and championing a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, they will evaluate system performance and advocate for optimizations that reduce infrastructure costs while maintaining service reliability.
