Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineering Manager to join Engineering Team based in Houston, Texas.

This is a Monday - Friday position located in our Downtown Houston office.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Vice President of Engineering corporately and the Project Manager on the assigned project/s functionally.
  • Responsible for the management of direct reports which include Project Engineers and Discipline Leads, as such, the Project Engineering Manager in coordination with direct reports is accountable for the delivery of the Engineering scope and budget and the reporting of progress and productivity to Project Management and the Vice President of Engineering.
  • Responsible for delivery of all Engineering activities and deliverables for Owner self-perform EPC execution and/or EPC Contractor execution. This includes managing all aspects of Engineering execution with regard to Project Controls, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning interface, support and inputs.
  • Where EPC Contractors are engaged for project execution:
    • Focal point for technical issues/coordination between EPC and owner furnished equipment suppliers.
    • Liaise with home office engineering for the resolution of technical issues that cannot be resolved at site.
    • Manage RFI process between EPC and Owner Furnished Equipment suppliers.
    • Manage the review of drawings issued by EPC and equipment suppliers.
  • For Owner self-perform EPC execution:
    • Manage RFI process between all Suppliers and Subcontractors engaged on the project.
    • Manage the review of all deliverables produced by all parties engaged in the project including Owner generated documents.
  • Participate in project safety program through safety walks, attending safety reviews, and providing safety input into designs, procedures, and activities.
  • Identify quality issues related to defective or non-conforming workmanship or materials. Work closely with construction team to ensure that contractors produce the required quality of work in line with project drawings and specifications.
  • Research code issues and obtain necessary approvals with subject matter experts.
  • Attend kick-off and review meetings while interacting with EPC Contractors.
  • Support systems completion process including completion of ITRs and PLIs. Ensure punch list items are prepared, collated and cleared expediently.
  • Support commissioning activities for plant systems. Ensure systems are complete and pre-requisites have been completed. Coordinate interfaces as required.
  • Support management of change processes.
  • Actively support constructibility program and communicate constructibility issues to discipline engineers.
  • Understand industry standards, applicable regulatory codes and requirements, and company standards.
  • Assist in development and review of turnover dossiers.
  • Attend project progress meetings and deliver a status of home office and site engineering activities.
  • Build relationship with contractor project engineering counterparts where applicable.
  • Understand contractual requirements and communicate these to team.
  • Actively support safety, quality, schedule and cost.
