Candidates must have over 3 years of experience managing a team and directly overseeing software release processes in a software development organization. Demonstrated success shipping cross-platform products, ideally across mobile (Android & iOS) and desktop client environments, is required. Strong analytical skills and experience working with metrics, telemetry, and data platforms (e.g., SQL, Looker, Redash, Tableau, custom dashboards, ETL) are essential. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, release tooling, version control systems, and issue tracking systems (Bugzilla, Jira, GitHub) is necessary. Excellent communication and organizational skills, especially in remote and asynchronous settings, are a must. The ability to navigate ambiguity and build alignment across diverse technical teams is also required. Familiarity with Apple App Store/Google Play release processes, staged rollout best practices, desktop distribution platforms, mobile release automation, and open source development is preferred. Knowledge of software quality practices, security, performance, and privacy considerations is beneficial.
The Manager, Release Management will lead and support the release management team overseeing Firefox releases on Desktop, Android, and iOS. This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to define and execute pre-release validation strategies, ensuring timely, stable, and secure product releases with comprehensive test coverage, in-depth risk analysis, and proactive issue management. The manager will design and improve metrics, dashboards, and tools to inform decisions, measure quality, and track release health. They will also develop and implement processes to optimize the release cadence and support phased rollout strategies, driving automation and operational excellence to scale release activities across platforms. Coordination across time zones and stakeholders, including volunteers and community contributors, is also a key responsibility.
