Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering
  • 10+ years of professional environmental, safety and Industrial Hygiene experience in manufacturing industry
  • Strong environmental experience with emphasis on wastewater, storm water, air and RCRA programs
  • Knowledge and experience on security management including DHS (Department of Homeland Security) regulations
  • Professional certifications preferred (CSP, CIH, PE, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability and Industrial Hygiene programs at the plant
  • Develop and implement procedures related to EHS that effectively control EHS risk to the organization and participate in EHS&S projects to add value to the company and aid in regulatory compliance
  • Serve as the manager, coach, and strategic planner of the facility’s EHS program; assist facility SLT in meeting its responsibility for ensuring the facility complies with all applicable EHS requirements; communicate with management and obtain feedback regarding program development and implementation; notify the Corporate EHS representative of significant legal and technical EHS issues
  • Act as company representative in dealing with government agencies on environmental, health and safety matters affecting the plant
  • Develop and cultivate a team environment among EHS members and all facility areas
  • Direct and coordinate site Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability programs and compliance with ISO 14001/45001 standards
  • Ensure that non-routine and routine operations are consistent with all EHS regulations, permits and Baxter standards
  • Analyze potential safety and environmental consequences of non-routine operations and projects before conducting any such activities that have not been previously analyzed; lead and develop the site EHS MOC (Management of Change) program
  • Promote and develop EHS networking and internal resources management among all Baxter PR facilities
  • Ensure transport of licensed material according to all applicable DOT requirements
  • Ensure accurate disposal of hazardous/non-hazardous wastes
  • Maintain an up-to-date compliance EHS calendar and timely submission of required documents and renewal requirements
  • Ensure that when EHS non-conformances or program weaknesses are identified, root causes are evaluated, and corrective actions are developed, implemented, detailed and tracked to closure
  • Evaluate hazardous conditions and practices and develop hazard control practices and programs
  • Develop Sustainability, Environmental, Safety and Industrial Hygiene, Threat Management (BCP) written procedures in accordance with federal and state government requirements and security procedures in line with Baxter Corporate requirements
  • Lead accident and/or incidents statistics and trends making recommendations for corrective actions
  • Lead and develop emergency procedures for the facility, including fire, environmental conditions, hurricane procedures and other natural disasters
  • Keep informed on the latest developments in federal and state safety and environmental laws likely to affect the facility
