Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily activities of the Government Regulatory Affairs department at the state, region, or division level
  • Assists with local regulatory, franchising and public policy matters for assigned geographic area
  • Sets up processes for tracking compliance with grants, franchise authorities, and other regulatory issues
  • Implements legislative strategies, monitors legislation and coordinates state association management
  • May manage a team including exempt and non-exempt employees and provides subject matter guidance as required
  • Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies
  • Assists in development and meeting of departmental budget
  • Manages tracking for compliance of federal grants and other regulatory processes within an assigned geographic area
  • Manages franchise renewal and transfer efforts for assigned franchises consistent with strategies and policies for the market area
  • Prepares franchise renewal applications and supporting data for renewal negotiations and assists in preparation of renewal strategy
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures to ensure organizational awareness of government legislation, regulatory/franchising issues, and compliance
  • Organizes, archives, and summarizes agreements and related documents related to completed and ongoing utility negotiations and market expansion efforts
  • Manages special projects related to market expansion and team advocacy efforts
  • Participates in franchise renewal negotiations with municipalities and/or their consultants
  • Supports the government relations and public policy strategy as developed for the market
  • Identifies important municipal issues of significance to the company
  • Drafts, analyzes and/or presents legislation, amendments and testimony as necessary
  • Oversees franchise-required construction installation of complimentary cable services to public buildings, including negotiation of additional terms and conditions with Local Franchise Authorities (LFA)
  • Reviews, interprets and communicates meanings of the terms and conditions of franchises, franchise-related agreements and other contracts for implementation to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards
  • Manages service complaints associated with complimentary services
  • Oversees additional duties related to community affairs
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
