Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent preferred; additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred
  • Minimum of six months previous mechanic experience required
  • Knowledge of equipment repair and operation
  • Able to repair and overhaul warehouse & production equipment
  • Welding ability
  • Able to read and write legibly
  • Able to follow orders
  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Able to work with little direct supervision
  • Physical ability to sit occasionally, stand/walk frequently, drive occasionally; lift/carry 1-100 lbs at varying frequencies; push/pull, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel/bend, reach above shoulder, grasp/manipulate objects, and twist at specified frequencies

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to all production/facility equipment to ensure adequate machinery availability for operations
  • Review equipment reports submitted by associates, record actions/repairs taken, and maintain a repair log per USF policy
  • Complete all applicable documentation for equipment-related activities (assembly forms, disassembly forms, etc.)
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PMs) on equipment and maintain PM log with proper documentation per USF policy
  • Comply with all USF and government guidelines regarding safety when working on equipment (e.g., Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding, required documentation, safe work environment)
  • Maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries, and other equipment contained therein
  • Responsible for company tools, replacement parts, and maintenance equipment, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area
  • If authorized, purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors to perform required duties
  • Maintain proper Hazmat documentation
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is fulfilled per schedules
  • Work on other assignments as designated by management
