Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience working in the food manufacturing industry
  • 4 years of experience as an experienced level maintenance mechanic (totaling minimum 5 years in related jobs with complete working knowledge of manufacturing processes)
  • Able to work rotating 12-hour overnight shifts (6pm-6am) including weekends, some overtime, and occasionally
  • Possess a full complement of necessary hand and power tools, including professional electrical tools (voltmeter, amp meter)
  • Knowledge of electrical functions, including reading electrical schematics, identifying motor frame/power load/amp draw, control power, and main power
  • Knowledge of food grade aluminum and stainless-steel welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Acetylene), fabrication techniques, soldering techniques
  • Complete knowledge of all tools for industrial maintenance, including those for broaching, milling, and lathe; ability to use machine shop and related machines
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and water systems, mechanical and pneumatic processes (cylinders, glue machines, date coders)
  • Ability to identify and understand all different lubricants and their uses
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications, schematics, quality documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, triage in fast-paced environment, and be self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate and understand safety issues, including reading safety equipment info and relaying to coworkers
  • PLC experience (plus)
  • Electrical knowledge, packing machinery experience (plus)
  • Oven operations experience (plus)

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment (assembly, conveyors, forming, mixing; oven operations a plus)
  • Follow work instructions, OSHA safety rules, use PPE and safety equipment
  • Diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, detect defective items, test, and make final adjustments on high-speed production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair all electrical functions
  • Prioritize and triage in fast-paced work environment
  • Maintain equipment per diagrams, manufacturer specifications, preventative maintenance work orders, and scheduled PMs
  • Generate work orders and parts requests
  • Use machine shop and related machines to repair parts or fabricate modifications
  • Complete work orders, PMs, and related documentation
  • Use mechanical and pneumatic processes (cylinders, glue machines, date coders)
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and other appropriate equipment
  • Maintain current GMP, Safety, Food Safety, & technical knowledge through active participation in training
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, Local Government)
