Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Technical degree and three years or more of related experience and/or training in a production/manufacturing environment is preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Effective English communication skills required; bilingual is preferred
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is preferred
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and present general business items to groups of coworkers, managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to frequently move items weighing up to 25 pounds as needed
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, rotating/varying shifts, and be available for emergency call-out as needed
  • Experience/knowledge of Daumar/Giro packaging machines and weighers or similar packaging machines

Responsibilities

  • Ensures self and coworkers are compliant with all safety rules and regulations (LOTO, fall protection, hot work, etc.)
  • Perform uptime and downtime preventative maintenance inspections on weighers, baggers, and conveyors
  • Troubleshoot and perform corrective work on mechanical, electrical (120v, 220v single and three phase, 480v), pneumatic and hydraulic systems within the packaging facility
  • Identify and execute improvements on equipment, documentation, work systems, and processes
  • Collaborate with different levels of employees in various departments of the facility through face-to-face, telephone, email, and radio communications
  • Provide training and development to operators and other maintenance personnel
  • Research system and component specifications using equipment manuals, schematics, parts breakdowns, online information, and vendor communication
  • Dismantle and reassemble complex pieces of machinery in an efficient, precise, and reliable manner
  • Operate cutting, welding, and various other fabrication equipment to cut, form, and/or join materials
  • Create/modify work orders in Computerized Maintenance Management System, and document details of work performed
  • Research parts, gather quotes, and generate requests
  • Escalate technical, procedural, and personnel related issues to direct lead or supervisor as necessary
  • Work with moral integrity on a consistent basis
  • Perform other assigned duties and projects
