Requirements

  • Basic mechanical or maintenance skills
  • Knowledge in welding, hydraulics, basic electricity, power transmission, pneumatics, and plumbing
  • 1 year or more experience in welding and industrial maintenance or completion of an educational/certificate program for industrial maintenance
  • Ability to read and understand assignments
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to hear/respond to two-way radio
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to withstand extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors
  • Basic knowledge of math
  • Ability to use various electrical and pneumatic power tools and equipment
  • Certified to operate various pieces of gas/hydraulic motors/lifts
  • Preferably respirator qualified
  • Willingness to pursue further education through outside training, company testing program, and vendor training
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Tolerance for frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, outside weather, risk of electrical shock, vibration; occasional exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals and extreme heat; and loud noise levels

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures
  • Using basic hand tools
  • Monitoring boiler and performing chemical tests on boiler
  • Reading drawings and schematics of hydraulic and basic electrical systems
  • Performing duties such as welding, cutting, minor electrical repair, removing/replacement of motor shafts, couplings, pumps, augers, water and steam pipes, lines, and systems
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
