Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Associates Degree (± 13 years) in Mechanical Technology, equivalent
  • Trade school/military training, apprenticeship, or comparable related experience in biomedical field is desired
  • Ability to use a Windows computer for daily tasks (procure material, CNC program, communicate via Teams and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of CNC programming using Mastercam
  • Experience setting up, adjusting, and operating standard and special machine tools for close tolerance and finish specifications
  • Ability to perform part and tool inspection
  • Capability to handle assignments of moderate complexity and recurring or non-routine situations

Responsibilities

  • Make parts to specific drawing requirements
  • Engage with technicians, engineers, and management on machine process capabilities
  • Program CNC equipment using Mastercam
  • Set up, run, and inspect own jobs (some requiring assembly)
  • Assemble tools with screws, dowel pins, knobs, latch pins, and toggle clamps
  • Plan operational sequences, select tooling, spindle speeds, tool feed rates, attachments, work supports when not predetermined
  • Position, align, and secure work on machines, avoiding distortion or tool deflection
  • Orient tools to reference points and correlate calibrating devices
  • Surface grind or prescribe grinding processes for tooling
  • Clean and maintain machines, sharpen tools as required
  • Perform heat treating procedures as required
  • Set up/utilize special test inspection equipment
  • Notify supervisor of supply/material needs and technical difficulties
  • Support Company initiatives for Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and regulatory requirements
  • Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments
  • Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
