Candidates should possess a BS or MS in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, coupled with over 3 years of professional software development experience. Proficiency in Python and familiarity with the end-to-end Machine Learning lifecycle and common frameworks like Scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, or TensorFlow are essential. Experience with common database query languages and technologies, particularly SQL, is required, with Snowflake and non-relational query languages being optional. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a collaborative spirit for creating maintainable and reliable software, are also necessary. Bonus points are awarded for experience with MLOps tools, real-time data processing/streaming systems, feature stores, workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, and large-scale data processing frameworks such as Spark or Beam. The role requires candidates to be based in Ontario or British Columbia, Canada.
The Machine Learning Platform Engineer II will contribute to the design and development of infrastructure for operationalizing Machine Learning at Dave. This includes delivering high-quality Python code for the Machine Learning Platform, such as the Feature Store and real-time scoring service, and infrastructure for the model development lifecycle. Responsibilities also involve writing thorough tests and participating in code reviews to eliminate member-impacting issues, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, and effectively receiving and addressing feedback on code and system designs. The engineer will collaborate closely with Data Scientists and other engineers to understand their needs and challenges, adjust explanations of technical concepts to varying audiences, and clearly understand the trade-offs in technical solutions. Proactively seeking clarity on priorities and suggesting process improvements for the team to enhance quality, velocity, and engagement are also key duties.
