Candidates should possess excellent academic performance in an undergraduate business degree, with a master's degree from a top-tier school being a plus. They must have strong verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English being essential. A minimum of 4 years of experience in business development, lead generation, or outbound sales, preferably in a B2B or M&A context, is required. Demonstrated success in cold calling and outbound prospecting, including initiating conversations with founders and C-level executives and navigating gatekeepers, is crucial. The role also requires strong analytical skills, sound business judgment, a professional demeanor, excellent time management, and a persistent, independent work ethic. Familiarity with Salesforce is considered an asset, and the ability to travel up to 20% is necessary.
The Business Development Associate will be responsible for representing the front-end of acquisition activities by establishing, building, and nurturing relationships with CEOs and owners of global companies. This includes creatively identifying leads for vertical market software businesses that meet strategic criteria and specific metrics, as well as maintaining and building a proprietary database of industry contacts. The associate will develop and conduct prospecting campaigns through various channels such as digital media, cold calling, email sequences, in-person meetings, and industry events. They will consistently make direct outreach to business owners and executives, confidently navigate gatekeepers, and initiate compelling conversations, demonstrating creativity, persistence, and credibility. Responsibilities also include gathering target company information, qualifying opportunities for potential acquisition, presenting high-potential opportunities to the internal M&A team, and supporting progression to NDA or deeper evaluation. Travel to attend tradeshows, prospecting trips, and in-person meetings is expected.
