Requirements

  • J.D. from a top-tier, accredited law school
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing in at least one U.S. state (New York preferred)
  • 4+ years minimum of relevant legal experience, including significant litigation work at a leading law firm, in a sophisticated in-house legal department, or with a government agency
  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills; ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear, concise advice for a non-legal audience
  • Proven ability to think strategically, solve problems, and exercise sound legal and business judgment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to independently manage multiple high-stakes projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, team-first attitude with a passion for the company's mission

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of litigation, including commercial disputes, auto liability claims, cutting-edge patent litigation and other matters (developing case strategy, overseeing discovery, drafting motions and pleadings, managing outside counsel)
  • Represent the company in pre-litigation mediations and arbitrations to achieve favorable resolutions
  • Develop internal processes, policies, and tools to support insurance-backed litigation and regulatory matters efficiently and at scale
  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to Operations, Partnerships, and Product teams on regulatory and compliance issues at local, state, and federal levels
  • Conduct thorough and efficient legal research and analysis on novel questions of law arising from innovative business models
  • Monitor new legislation and regulations that could impact operations and advise the business on potential impacts
  • Support the Legal team in responding to third-party subpoenas and requests for information
