Requirements
Candidates should possess a minimum of 4 years of experience supporting a broad range of Linux and Windows servers, both bare metal and virtualized, along with 4 years of experience working with Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat, including patching, automation, and monitoring. Intermediate scripting skills in shell/bash/python/powershell are required, as well as intermediate technical knowledge of the VSphere virtualization stack and intermediate Azure knowledge related to VM turnup, management, migrations, and Azure Up.
Responsibilities
The Linux Virtualization Consultant will conduct patching and identify automation opportunities for maintaining and monitoring Red Hat Linux operating systems, support virtualization, storage management, and migration, and assist with VMware vSphere operations and VM installation procedures. They will develop unique strategies to implement, support, and protect software systems, data centers, and servers, working within a highly regulated environment and collaborating with other IT groups. The role involves supporting and diagnosing technical issues related to servers, storage, DNS, and other systems, deploying and supporting virtual infrastructure (Azure and VSphere), managing VMware vSphere and Azure environments, and acting as an escalation point for critical server and virtualization issues. Additionally, the consultant will create and maintain virtual server, storage, and data center documentation, participate in implementing network and system security measures, recommend new technologies and processes, and work closely with the security team.
