Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or college transcript in lieu of diploma)
  • Driver’s license or ability to obtain one (expected to get CDL if hired into Line Helper position)
  • Ability to work at heights in nearly all-weather conditions
  • Must pass Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) assessment
  • Must pass background check and drug screen
  • Computer/laptop and access to the Internet (for virtual classes)
  • Purchase Fire Retardant (FR) clothing and boots
  • Submit application to CT State Community College by December 12th, 2025, including High School Diploma/GED
  • Pass evaluation, interview, and CAST test at Eversource training facility
  • No need for immigration sponsorship (applicants requiring it should not apply)

Responsibilities

  • Attend 13-week program: Tuesday/Thursday evenings 5:30-8:30pm online and Saturdays 8am-2:30pm in person
  • Develop fundamental skills to install and maintain Electric Distribution system
  • Learn safe and effective use of common tools and equipment
  • Build knowledge of accepted industry practices
  • Complete trainings: Lineworker Certificate, CDL permit test preparation, AHA Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED, OSHA10
  • If employed, respond to emergency situations outside normal hours/location as part of Emergency Restoration assignment
