Position Overview

Join our Corporate Division as a Legal Counsel in Melbourne and make a tangible impact. This role, reporting to the Head of Legal, Commercial (APAC), is crucial for building a world-class legal and regulatory infrastructure to ensure sustainable business performance. You will provide essential legal advice to business units and central functions, identify legal risks, and offer comprehensive legal support across all group activities.

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter with a proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and collaboratively.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing all facets of Xplor's legal function.
  • Serve as an integral member of the Legal team, liaising with other departments and anticipating their legal needs.
  • Provide pragmatic, legally sound guidance and foster a culture of excellence among cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Offer legal and contractual support for all business areas, including commercial contracting, product development, payments, sales, and marketing.
  • Take ownership of significant legal matters as assigned, encompassing commercial, payments, privacy, product, intellectual property, regulatory, and corporate issues.
  • Collaborate with Legal & Compliance Leadership to monitor and respond to changes in statutory, regulatory, and policy landscapes.
  • Reinforce a culture of compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including the development and adherence to internal policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments, assessing their business impact and providing timely advice.

Required Qualifications:

  • Law qualification from a reputable institution.
  • Admission as a solicitor/lawyer, ideally in Australia.
  • Prior in-house legal experience is essential.
  • Ideally 4-6 years of post-qualification legal experience (candidates with slightly more or less experience will also be considered).
  • Strong ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and escalate matters appropriately.
