LL.B. or J.D. and active membership in the bar of a Canadian province
More than 4 years of legal experience (in a law firm or in-house)
Strong foundation in commercial and corporate law, particularly in contracts and negotiation
Excellent judgment, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities
Proactive, adaptable, and entrepreneurial mindset
Genuine curiosity for fintech, crypto, and the impact of technology on financial services
Assets

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Shakepay teams to provide practical and actionable legal advice, enabling the company to move quickly while remaining compliant
Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts
Monitor and interpret evolving regulations in financial services, privacy, and crypto—and transform them into opportunities
Participate in the development of new products and features, identifying legal risks early and designing creative, business-oriented solutions
Implement scalable processes to make legal work more efficient and impactful
Work closely with regulatory authorities and external counsel as needed
Grow rapidly through mentorship from senior leadership and exposure to a wide range of legal and strategic challenges
