The Learning Design Professional 2 uses instructional design, cognitive psychology and adult learning theory to determine the appropriate solution to a knowledge or performance gap. The Learning Design Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
The Learning Design Professional 2 is a skilled instructional designer who leverages technology and adult learning principles to create impactful, learner-centered experiences. This role involves analyzing and organizing content, designing innovative learning solutions, and developing a variety of deliverables including storyboards, scripts, performance support tools, learning modules, and manuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to assess learning needs and translate complex information into engaging, accessible content.
- Designing and developing interactive eLearning using tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise, and producing animated and narrated videos using Vyond and WellSaid Labs.
- Applying adult learning theories and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to ensure content is relevant, engaging, and effective.
- Writing clear, measurable learning objectives and aligning them with performance assessments to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Continuously updating course materials to reflect current practices and organizational goals.
- Measuring training impact through learner feedback, proficiency assessments, and performance improvement metrics.
- Providing guidance and support to facilitators and trainers to ensure consistent delivery and learner engagement.
- Utilizing social media and collaborative platforms to enhance learning and foster knowledge sharing.
- Planning and developing comprehensive training curricula, job aids, and performance support tools tailored to specific business needs.
- Using consultative skills to conduct needs analyses and recommend appropriate learning solutions aligned with organizational strategy.
- Demonstrating autonomy in decision-making and adaptability in ambiguous situations, while following established procedures and seeking guidance when necessary.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Less than 5 years of technical experience
- Prior experience working in a consumer centric company leading the learning function or related function
- Prior demonstrated capability leading teams and developing and maintaining a dynamic and high performing team culture.
- Progressive business and financial analytics experience with a focus on learning strategies and adult learning theories
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in one of the following areas: Business Administration; Learning and Performance; Education; Human Resources, Organizational Design or Related field.
- Work experience in a health care and / or Insurance setting
Travel
- While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
Compensation
- Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
- Pay Range: $59,300 - $80,900 per year
- This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
