Requirements

Candidates must possess 5-7 years of progressive experience in curriculum development or instructional design, specifically within a core curriculum provider. Demonstrated experience working on and contributing to core ELA curriculum for middle school and high school is required, along with extensive knowledge of state framework-aligned curriculum creation. Significant experience working at a respected core curriculum provider and a proven ability to provide and implement expert input on assessments, lesson plans, training, and documentation at scale are essential. Familiarity with accessibility standards and guidelines is also required. Experience with the California ELA/ELD framework, creation of resources for MLLs, and scaffolds for striving readers are highly valued.

Responsibilities

The Senior Learning Experience Designer will serve as a primary subject matter expert on curriculum creation, offering expertise on ELA curriculum and content, particularly for middle and high school. They will collaborate closely with curriculum writing teams, instructional designers, content developers, and assessment writers, providing insights into state frameworks and pedagogical best practices. This role involves creating or updating guidelines for vendors, reviewing and providing feedback on curriculum components, and creating or reviewing teacher-facing instructional materials. Responsibilities also include creating or updating guidelines for formative and summative assessments, reviewing assessment samples, and providing critical feedback on lesson plans and activities. The designer will propose and execute innovative solutions for scaling content review, create project checklists, and ensure all developed materials comply with state requirements. They will collaborate with internal teams managing external vendors, provide expert input, and hire, train, and work with contributors to scale the review of vendor-created content.
