Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a strong track record leading teams and delivering consumer-facing products
  • Experience working across the full stack, with both front-end and back-end technologies, including: Languages: Java, Kotlin, Groovy/Grails, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and Clojure/ClojureScript (preferable) or another functional programming language; Frameworks: React, Ember, Vue.js, or AngularJS; Cloud/DevOps: AWS (Lambda, CDK, Serverless), Docker, Terraform, etc.; Databases: MySQL, other SQL/NoSQL stores, and messaging systems
  • Knowledge of diverse programming paradigms (object-oriented, functional, declarative)
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD practices, test automation, DevOps, and modern software delivery
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring engineers, leading cross-functional projects, and improving delivery performance
  • Clear, confident communication and a desire to collaborate across disciplines, including Product, Design, and QA
  • Deep and broad engineering skills to stand up an architecture in its entirety on your own
  • Experience in building performant, easy to use, well monitored and well tested APIs, creating and maintaining robust web applications, designing efficient data flows, communicating clearly, sharing knowledge, and questioning existing solutions

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of product features and services that delight Gravie’s customers and members
  • Drive engineering excellence via code reviews, architectural guidance, and hands-on mentorship
  • Foster a high-performing team culture grounded in collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability
  • Help evolve our CI/CD processes toward continuous delivery, with an emphasis on fast, safe, high-quality deployments
  • Oversee production health of the services your team owns and implement improvements to minimize incidents
  • Provide technical leadership for key initiatives in our financial and customer experience technology stacks
  • Champion the thoughtful adoption of AI-driven development tools, including best practices for integrating tools like Claude Code
  • Be a role model of Gravie’s core values—authenticity, curiosity, creativity, empathy, and outcomes focus
