Requirements

Min 12 years of experience in a similar role
Bachelor in Information Technology, Computer Sciences or similar/related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Experience with leading large teams, coaching team leads not only technically but how to be great leaders as well
Excellent English speaking, writing and presentation skills
Meets all technical expectations of previous levels, working across chapter, guild and organization
Able to make the right judgement what to focus on and what to delegate
Has expertise in a set of related team's domains, including the breadth of services, how they interact, and data flows between systems

Responsibilities

Define and drive the technical vision and ensure it is known and implemented in development activities
Drive prototyping and validation of new architecture and technology ideas, ways of working, efficiency gains and refactoring initiatives
Work across departments to foster collaboration and act as the face of the product vision and success internally and externally
Interact with teams from pre-sales and customer success to incorporate technology feedback from customers and field engineers
Provide advice based on experience and deep technical understanding of software development, practices and frameworks
Lead by example, define ways of working and path to success, taking the expert role in all topics related to Backend
Ensure solutions are tested, accessible, extensible, maintainable, secure and perform well, driving completion of deliverables
Act as a role model and mentor for other Software Engineers, providing guidance in their development
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor analysis, team compositions to ensure preparedness and dynamism
Conduct test analysis and take a proactive role in formulating quality considerations for strategic product and architectural decisions
Contribute to the testing frameworks for the organization and mentor less senior engineers on test automation
Spend time on design, planning, architecture, defining/implementing organization strategy/vision
Use systematic debugging to diagnose issues within related domains
Have a helicopter view of the product and influence testing approach and strategy across product line and organization
Write automated test cases in different testing levels for the whole system under test
Act as a bridge between value stream and external groups (guilds, RnD, CS, customers)
Work with security team and across teams to apply organization's security strategy
Foster a security first mindset across teams, leading by example
Foster a culture of observability across teams and help use operational data to improve stability, performance and accessibility
Work across teams to foster a culture of architecture that allows iterative, autonomous development and future scaling
Guide teams in anticipation of future use cases and help make design decisions that minimize cost of future changes
Be the go-to person for all Backbase departments due to functional expertise
Empower teams and other Software Engineers while improving related processes
