Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in server administration or technical support
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL and InnoDB
  • Strong understanding of Apache web server, SSL, and various configuration scenarios
  • Knowledge of networking, including IP and commonly used communication protocols
  • Understanding of Linux Firewall and ability to build one
  • Knowledge of intrusion detection/prevention techniques
  • Fluent in speaking and writing English
  • On-call availability during night hours on a rotational basis
  • Nice to Have
  • Understanding of "high availability" concepts
  • Experience with Big Data technologies, including setting up and running Hadoop clusters
  • Ability to understand code written in Python or PHP
  • Knowledge of regular expressions
  • Knowledge of hardware
  • Experience using GIT
  • Knowledge of French or Romanian

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Ubuntu and Debian Linux servers
  • Monitor systems and applications, perform performance analysis
  • Manage manual and automated software deployments
  • Work with highly-available and redundant systems
  • Automate various tasks through scripting
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware in Debian Linux environment
  • Coach and mentor team members
