  • Ability to maintain sterile technique during procedures
  • Compliance with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations for radiology procedures and patient care
  • Skills in patient positioning, shaving, prepping, transfers, and transport
  • Proficiency in inputting patient data into C-Arm and administering fluoroscopy
  • Ability to draw up and label intravenous medication per organization policy
  • Competence in processing x-ray images and archiving to repositories
  • Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools and practices
  • Ability to inspect, maintain, and make recommendations on equipment and instruments
  • Knowledge of proper disposal of hazardous waste, dirty linen, and rugs
  • Effective communication skills with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Ability to train and orient new employees
  • Accuracy in reviewing procedures, documenting charges, and verifying CPT and ICD-9 codes for billing

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in performing interventional radiology procedures
  • Operates and performs quality control on radiological equipment per policies and procedures
  • Prepares patient and procedure room, including stocking supplies, trays, and equipment
  • Reviews patient-specific procedure orders to determine needed materials/supplies
  • Cleans procedure room and equipment post-procedure
  • Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and addresses concerns
  • Prepares patient for procedures by positioning, shaving, and prepping
  • Performs patient transfers and transports to/from procedure room
  • Inputs patient data into C-Arm
  • Acts as scrub assistant during procedures, administering fluoroscopy while maintaining sterile technique
  • Draws up intravenous medication and labels per policy
  • Processes x-ray images and archives to repository, CD, or DVD
  • Supports quality standards through regulatory compliance and CQI practices
  • Implements quality goals and action plans
  • Maintains accurate, complete medical records, performs audits, and ensures compliance
  • Maintains environmental integrity, cleanliness, and safety of facility areas
  • Inspects equipment daily before/after procedures and ensures proper working condition
  • Assists with inventory, ordering, and efficient use of supplies to prevent waste
  • Assists with disposal of hazardous waste, dirty linen, and rugs
  • Attends and participates in Governing Body and CQI meetings, assists with agendas and data
  • Ensures effective communication with physicians and addresses their concerns
  • Works with physicians and staff to ensure necessary instruments and equipment are available
  • Assists in training and orienting new employees
  • Reviews procedures for accurate and timely patient billing, documenting charges and verifying codes
