Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with industry codes and best practices
  • Build critical thinking skills
  • Gain understanding of how engineering disciplines work together
  • Gain knowledge of refinery operations by working with teams on specific refining processes
  • Work on multiple areas of the refinery for broad plant understanding
  • Expand written and verbal presentation skills
  • As Area Refining Engineer/Project Engineer: develop project scopes, estimates, and schedules; oversee design effort and assist in construction; manage projects of all sizes
  • As Reliability Engineer: support Maintenance Department through design and development of equipment improvements; perform root cause failure analysis; optimize maintenance programs for rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, etc.); troubleshoot fixed equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, etc.); identify new technology in design, materials, and repair methods
