Able to read and interpret instrument and electrical installation drawings, process plant P&IDs, wiring schematics, loop drawings, electrical one-line drawings, and component assembly drawings
Able to read and follow technical manuals, specification sheets, maintenance instructions, parts bill of materials, and understand the significance of materials of construction for specific applications
Heat trace testing knowledge using a multi-meter and megohm meter
Knowledge of heat trace control panels
Knowledge of thermal insulation systems
Troubleshooting capabilities
Good verbal and written communication skills
Able to work through problems in stressful conditions and remain calm
Respond to off-hours plant emergencies as a shared responsibility with other technicians
Must have or meet requirements for a TWIC card
Must have NCCER certification or equivalent
Must have NCCER validation or equivalent
High school diploma/GED with minimum 5 years petrochemical plant experience as an I&E technician (or 2-year technical college diploma or military training in instrumentation, electrical, or electronics, and minimum of 3 years plant experience as an acceptable substitute)

Trouble-shoot, calibrate, maintain, and install plant instrumentation and electrical systems and components
Document findings, correct drawings to reflect as-built conditions, and maintain equipment history files and logs
Function check, diagnose, and calibrate instrument sensors, transmitters, and control elements for process parameters such as temperature, flow, level, and pressure
Diagnose and maintain electrical and electronics systems and components such as relays, switches, power supplies, motor control circuits, AC/DC motors, variable speed drives, electric tracing, transformers, and wiring
Basic trouble-shooting and component replacement on control system hardware such as DCS and PLC systems
Assist in determining repairs needed by recommending replacement parts, options, and solutions
Perform other duties as assigned
