Requirements

  • Expertise in operations, process, and efficiency for General Merchandise (GM) areas
  • Knowledge of retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions strategies
  • Skills in leading a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating, and retaining talent
  • Ability to work a schedule aligning to guest and business needs (early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends)
  • Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first culture

Responsibilities

  • Understand sales goals, plans, and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement
  • Lead and share expertise in operations, accuracy, and efficiency
  • With guidance from direct leader, establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable
  • Utilize workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload, ensuring areas are guest-ready at store open
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, aligning with business priorities
  • Assess GM backroom and sales floor areas, review reporting to identify gaps, and develop plans to resolve issues
  • Ensure product is available for purchase to enable a consistent guest experience
  • Assist direct leader in leading and following up on organizational and operational change
  • With guidance from direct leader, build a team of GM experts from initial selection
