  • Ability to independently perform and understand hardware, operating systems, and maintenance work on a variety of HVAC/R equipment and systems, including production, lab, and facility equipment
  • Skills as a multi-skill tradesperson, including mechanical, pipefitting, building maintenance, and other work on special assignments
  • Capability to act as a lead person in a crew of two or more tradespersons on larger projects, serving as liaison and coordinator
  • Knowledge to troubleshoot mechanical problems, order parts, and perform repairs to return equipment to operation timely
  • Understanding of GMP and safe work policies and procedures
  • Good judgment pertaining to customer satisfaction and quality of services
  • Availability for rotating 12-hour night shift (6pm–6:30am, 4 nights on/4 nights off)

Responsibilities

  • Handle comfort complaints, preventive maintenance, and repairs on ice machines, refrigerators, freezer units, low temperature refrigeration systems, environmental chambers, incubators, air dryers, lab heating/cooling equipment, dehumidifiers, and stability chambers
  • Work on HVAC/R systems, equipment, and control systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform necessary repairs
  • Perform work on fractional horsepower motors, unit circulation fans, basic electrical devices, air conditioners, air handlers, compressors, pumps, walk-in coolers/freezers, fans, valves, actuators, variable air volume controllers, etc
  • Install bearings, seals, belts, gaskets, etc., on HVAC/R equipment
  • Assist in ensuring GMP and safe work policies/procedures are followed
  • Participate in work group team meetings and identify methods to improve productivity, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction
  • Provide 24/7 skilled trade maintenance support to manufacturing, R&D labs, warehouses, and office facilities
