Responsibilities

Serve as a unit/department resource, providing customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff; greet all persons, answer inquiries, direct, and assist them
Use appropriate reception etiquette for telephone, nurses’ desk, receiving area, and paging system when answering phones, making announcements, and/or assisting visitors; assist in providing direction during emergencies
Communicate messages, explanations, and instructions clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner to all members of the healthcare team
Keep work area clean and organized; assist or be responsible for set up and/or restocking rooms, ordering supplies, and cleaning
Accurately enter patient admission/registration information; assist with completion of required forms, preparing charts, order entry, scheduling appointments, and obtain/distribute patient education materials as directed
Assist with transfer and/or discharge paperwork and communicate necessary information to receiving departments/facilities
Assist RN/LPN/Patient Care Tech in meeting patient care needs as requested and appropriate to the unit/department
