Candidates must possess a Law Degree and be an active member of the bar, along with 7+ years of legal experience, specifically with product counseling, consumer protection, and privacy. Previous in-house experience at a consumer technology company is required, with subscription experience being a plus. Strong knowledge of GDPR, privacy, data protection regulations across various jurisdictions is essential, as well as deep understanding of the U.S. regulatory landscape, including FTC regulations and enforcement actions. Experience in working with products that process payments and handle subscription billing and compliance is also necessary. Familiarity with IP matters in a tech or digital product context is required.
The Head of Product Legal and Regulatory Compliance will serve as the primary legal advisor for product, engineering, design, growth, and marketing teams, partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risks throughout the product development cycle. They will provide practical guidance on US and global privacy laws, consumer protection regulations, and intellectual property rights, ensuring compliance with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rules and enforcement trends. This role will also involve advising on compliance with payment processing regulations and subscription practices, as well as leading internal efforts around terms of service, privacy policies, and product documentation. Furthermore, the individual will support strategic IP initiatives, manage legal team members or external counsel, and maintain awareness of legal and industry trends to drive best practices across the organization.
