Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Business, Science or Engineering
  • Passion for technology and innovation and commitment to seeing it implemented at GM
  • Capable of working both independently and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Effective communication skills with researchers or engineers, business stakeholders and entrepreneurs
  • Ability to lead technical discussions within the team
  • Minimum of 5 years experience building strong relationships and networks across organization business units and/or venture capital teams
  • Strong believer in the importance and value of external startup led innovation
  • Experience working in the innovation space, preferably within GM
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and sound business judgement combined with a technical background
  • Able to work in an ambiguous environment and identify the exact KPI to focus on and deliver results against
  • Able to establish and build strong relationships with both internal and external partners
  • Creative, big picture thinker with a strong “team player” mind set
  • (Preferred) 3-5 years of experience in technical/innovation development
  • (Preferred) Experience within start-up ecosystem

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the deployment of technology and solutions from a select group of GM Ventures portfolio companies to grow value for both GM and the start-up
  • Interface between R&D, Advanced Engineering and various other GM business units to track and accelerate all relationships between GM and the assigned portfolio companies
  • For assigned portfolio companies, proactively identify untapped needs and use cases within GM’s various business units (Manufacturing, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, Design, Engineering, Customer Experience etc.) through periodic interactions and ideation sessions with designated stakeholders
  • Support the development of commercial agreements that are led by the GMV investment team
  • Work with portfolio companies to drive value to both GM and the startup by aligning company value proposition to GM’s needs and driving internal expansion
  • Perform regular implementation reviews to ensure that the business engagement is on track
  • Work closely with various GM business units and SME’s on tech related partnerships
