Requirements

  • BS/MS technical degree preferred (preferably Engineering; undergraduate business degree or MBA a plus)
  • Five years' experience in glass melting or glass/ceramic operations
  • Proven understanding of container, float, or fiber glass melting; knowledge of refractories, furnace design, and combustion systems a plus
  • Familiarity with industrial gases and oxy-fuel combustion preferred
  • Experience in technical service, sales, or applications development a plus
  • Ability to work efficiently across functions and levels, both internally and externally
  • Good interpersonal skills and strong influencing skills
  • Willingness to travel 40-50% to customer sites in the U.S. and Canada

Responsibilities

  • Lead new business signings and technical sales of gases, technology, and equipment to the glass and ceramic industries
  • Provide guidance to the applied research group for new offering development using understanding of current and future industry processes, environmental issues, and decarbonization efforts
  • Resolve customer technical challenges, helping improve operations, efficiency, and safety; involved from initial contact through startup and retention
  • Identify and develop new prospects for industrial gas usage and equipment/technology sales, focusing on growth markets and solid cost positions
  • Audit prospects and customer processes to identify new or more efficient usage of industrial gases
  • Engage with marketing and lead generation to develop a broader opportunity pipeline
  • Develop the scope and support execution of technology demonstrations in the field, proving benefits of industrial gases in melting and inerting processes
  • Identify and calculate economic benefits of Air Products’ technologies (e.g., production increase, enhanced quality, lower cost raw materials, fuel savings, reduced emissions)
  • Engage in trade associations, technical organizations, conferences, and trade shows to present papers, promote technology, support marketing, network, and lead committees
  • Work with customers and internal groups in applied research, computational modeling, and marketing to develop technical papers and marketing materials showcasing results
  • Engage external partners to provide full solutions to customers, as applicable
