Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in food safety, animal science, natural science, technical field, or related job experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of prior industry experience in regulatory, production, and manufacturing concepts (preferred)
  • Experience with FDA and USDA regulated products
  • SAP experience (a plus)
  • Standard computer skills, including generating spreadsheets and developing templates
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for all organizational levels
  • Good problem identification and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and interact with various organizational facets as plant liaison to USDA
  • HACCP Certified, PCQI Certified, and SQF Certified (preferred)
  • Ability to manage crewing labor and attendance of the FSQA department
  • Willingness to travel 3-5+ trips per year
  • Must reside in the United States (sponsorship not available)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee finished product quality and Food Safety Systems
  • Implement and enforce Tyson FSQA policies and procedures
  • Monitor verification and documentation for compliance with government regulations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP, HARPC, SOP, GMP, and SSOP programs
  • Ensure finished products align with customer specifications and label requirements
  • Report product issues and audit results to relevant stakeholders
  • Interact with customers and their agents for product showings, plant tours, and audits
  • Address initial product runs and respond to quality-related customer complaints
  • Monitor microbiological results and conduct bacterial swabs
  • Generate shelf-life environmental graphs
  • Conduct research and development activities to enhance food safety and quality
  • Select, train, and manage FSQA Supervisors and Technicians
  • Facilitate both Food Safety and Foreign Material teams at the plant
  • Complete required internal, regulatory, and customer audits
  • Manage Hold Release inventories at the plant level in SAP
  • Oversee all special projects, departmental budgets, turnover, and safety
