Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and as a productive, contributing, responsible member of a work team
  • Support for Sonaca North America’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement, and company policies/procedures, including commitment to customer satisfaction, quality, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, accountability, and respect
  • Attendance and active participation in all required training
  • Ability to review manufacturing planning, part-specific engineering information, set-up information, and related instructions to understand work processes and quality requirements
  • Proficiency in setting up, operating, and tearing down machines including hydraulic shear, chop saw, and forklift (set-up/tear-down may require forklift or other material handling equipment)
  • Skill in using gauges, scales, calipers, mylars, blueprints, customer tools, and other measuring equipment to check part quality
  • Capability to perform 100% inspection of parts and complete statistical process control plans
  • Ability to notify leads/supervisors of discrepancies in set-up/run times
  • Responsibility for minor machine maintenance and maintaining machine alignment/condition
  • Proficiency in completing required documentation (e.g., buy-offs, part counts, labor cards, set-up info, data collection, non-conforming material disposition)
  • Ability to move completed parts to next operation/staging area and collaborate using continuous improvement tools, just-in-time techniques for process enhancements

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company and work center specific production, administration, and safety policies/procedures
  • For machine-dependent operations: select, align, secure holding fixtures/cutting tools/attachments/accessories/material; set up machine; start/observe first part production to detect malfunctions/out-of-tolerance conditions; adjust controls as required
  • Operate one or more machines: hydraulic shear, chop saw, forklift
  • Check first part quality using gauges, scales, calipers, mylars/blueprints/customer tools/measuring equipment
  • Obtain first part buy-off from lead, supervisor, quality control inspector, or second team member; complete production run upon buy-off
  • Perform 100% inspection of all subsequent parts and complete statistical process control requirements
  • Use target times to evaluate timely completion of work
  • Notify lead/supervisor of substantive discrepancies between planning target times and actual set-up/run times
  • Perform minor machine maintenance and ensure proper alignment/condition
  • Complete required documentation including manufacturing planning buy-off, accurate part counts, labor card entry, set-up information, special notes, data collection plans, tie-in information, and non-conforming material disposition
  • Tear down machine/hand tool set-up upon production run completion, returning tools/equipment/accessories to proper locations
  • Move completed part order to next manufacturing operation or staging area
  • Work with others using continuous process improvement and just-in-time techniques to develop/install process improvements impacting throughput, machine/human resource utilization
