Requirements

Entry level capability to perform inspections, data entry, reporting, and project management
Familiarity with Maps+ and Field Maps applications
Knowledgeable and capable of identifying and mitigating inherent risks associated with field work
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to internal and external clients
Ability to maintain a professional standard of work and behavior
Ability to provide complete deliverables in a timely manner
Ensure adherence to applicable PG&E Procedures and Standards, as well as Forest Practice Rules (for self and overseen contractors)

Responsibilities

Provide field support for Natural Resources Management (NRM) Timber Hydro team, including Timber Cruising and marking
Complete Timber Harvest plans and provide oversight of compliance with timber sale contracts, Forest Practice Rules, and timber harvest permits
Support federal agency timber sales
Prepare 1600 series permitting applications
Conduct Biological surveys and environmental reviews
Complete desktop reviews of assigned inspection areas
Collect spatial data within the approved GIS platform
Complete inspection reports including narrative descriptions of road conditions, suggested work, photos, and maps
Oversee contractors performing access road construction and/or maintenance work
Conduct safety engagements and report safety hazards, concerns, or conditions of nonconformance
Review, revise, amend, or prepare Timber Harvesting Plans (THP), Exemptions, timberland conversion permits, or other associated permits for timber harvesting
Confirm and update Identification, classification, flagging, and marking (with paint) of all WLPZs and other protection measures as defined by Forest Practice Rules
Identify and flag all roads, landings, existing culverts, and locations of existing and new watercourse crossings
Confirm or identify feasible yarding methods balancing slope, road access, available timber, and environmental impacts
Establish all timber harvest boundaries with paint and flagging; notify PG&E of property corners/lines requiring formal survey
Mark or re-mark all timber according to existing permit and PG&E tree marking guidelines
Ensure silvicultural system(s) are approved by PG&E
Generate mapping in GIS format with final shape files
Implement and follow Forest Practice Rules and related procedures at Hydro Power Generation facilities, land, and Systemwide facilities and lands, including Cal Fire permitting for timber harvest
